God Damn Amazon!

I fucking hate these bastards! Jason stop whoring for them!

Apparently Amazon.com received another patent on a ubiquitous web-technology: recommendation services . They cannot get away with this for long, but why must the justice system be so damned thick! They are fucking idiots!

Do I need to remind you to go here: NoAmazon.com or NOWebPatents.com, or Alternatives to Amazon?

new music

Try some of this if you are looking for new stuff (at least it's new to me):

Apples in Stereo and Modest Mouse. I just happened across these a few days ago.

Remember what I said about wanting to really write more. And post quality links and add meaning to you life? Well I do, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. But I haven't forgotten.

This site (sakebomb) is so

This site (sakebomb) is so damn good that I just have to point it out again. Plus they just redesigned, so there is a reason for it.

They actually have *content*! Can you believe that shit. You can watch as they run around the world and do crazy shit all over the place. Somehow they end up getting paid too. I gotta get me one of them gigs.

I had to link to

I had to link to this, its just too damned funny not to. Thanks Jason for your great "data" mining, as always.

Some random thoughts:

Mission Impossible 2: Don't go. The real impossible mission is trying to suspend your disbelief enough to get through this latest cheesy John Woo movie.

Dog parks are good. Has anyone else been to these places? You can just let your dog run around with other dogs on a huge plot of land that has a fence around it. These dog parks have single-handedly allowed me to have time to do things like update this site

Lesson learned: no matter what they say, how many "free" CD's you get, or how many you have to buy to fulfill your obligation, CD clubs are always a bad idea and take up way too much time in the long run. Just dealing with these people after I have written return to sender on 5 "monthly selections" in a row and the sending me a list of 100 CD's to choose from is a good enough reason not to join. Who really buys "Hole" CDs anyways?

I love the way Greg Knauss writes...

It makes me feel like the things I think in my head aren't all that crazy and that maybe I should say some of them out loud

One thing he wrote got me to thinking about something I have actually had discussions about: the absurdity of male genitalia. What if it could be detachable (as in the song)? Wouldn't that seem like a better solution? No need for the jock strap or accompanying "nut cup", no embarrassing moments in high school speech classes (not a confession). There could be a whole new market for penis carrying cases, and performance accessories (well they may already have these).

I guess the downside would be the penis misplacing or the penis robbery that could occur.

Hello and welcome to MoviePhone. We just redesigned our site and now it really sucks. For Gladiator please press 1...

Apparently Linux is more popular than sex.

I have been using Moviefone.com for sometime now and have always been impressed with the information on the site and how it functions... until now. Their new redesign throws it right in there with every other site, it has no originality or character and it is way harder to find information, to boot. (plus there's that cheesy voice welcoming me when I get to the site!)

God is it awful.

As long as I am in a ranting mood, I would like to comment that phone (USWest) and cable companies (MediaOne) suck!

Ding Dong the SuperDisk is dead.

Out and About

I took in some movies recently and some dining at one of Minneapolis' more trendy spots. And for once it's all good news that I have to report.

Gladiator was a well acted, well casted (for the most part) movie with great scenery and action (oh that poor Germanic Tribe!).

Road Trip was good for its genre (Tom Green was NOT the funniest part) Funny, if pretty predictable, but I can't complain about a movie like this... I knew what I was getting.

Lastly, Chino Latino is now, probably my new favorite restaurant. The diverse food selection and the huge portions make a gathering at this Uptown restaurant a joy. If you can find it, that is, as it has no sign outside and can only be spotted by looking for the glittering wall of gold above a few outdoor diners. The waitress I had was very nice and eager to please. Check it out if you are hungry, adventurous, have a party of 4 or more, and don't mind hanging out in a loud, bustling setting filled with a "be seen" type crowd.

This is just wrong - someone rounded up a ton of photos of the "genetically challenged" and told a little "story" around them.

A new flash-tacular Special Edition Beetle site

PG 13 & R Rated Fun

Here are some interesting links that all happen to be about breasts:

When Dinosaurs walked the earth?

A Christian fundamentalist group in Kentucky is planning a 95,000 acre museum that will hold the largest collection of dinosaur models in America and teach that they were alive no earlier than 6000 years ago.

This and other creationists beliefs will be on display for those wanting to confuse their kids further and set science back to the Dark Ages.

While on the subject of dinosaurs and brainwashing small children: Disney is releasing its next blockbuster:Dinosaur. The graphical feats look very impressive, but don't you know that you are going to see these toys and games everywhere for the next year.

How about a little more awards and a little less Webby

I don't know if anyone out there bothered to watch the Live Webcast of the Webby's tonight, but if you did, I hope you didn't have any loaded firearms nearby.

About 5 minutes into it, I wanted to end my life... or at least the lives of the interviewers and brain trust that came up with the pre-ceremony ideas and the whole "Time Machine" theme.

If your into masochism, be sure to watch the re-run webcast. But I warned you.

For the curious, here are the winners.

"I am not Jim Romenesko."

What the web is all about

Atom Films is why I love the web. In fact, if I had any ambition at all, that's what I would be doing. Making movies and posting them on the Internet for all to see.

You have probably seen their spot on TV for Bikini Bandits. I haven't seen the others but episode 7 is pretty weird/disturbing (yet somehow sexy?).

Their animated shorts are almost always good.

A new Anakin is born. Nearly official word on the street has, an unknown, Canadian actor, Hayden Christensen, set to play Anakin Skywalker in the next 2 Star Wars films. Is anyone thinking about what Mark Hamill is doing right now?

Buy a Bug

Starting tomorrow you can buy a VW Limited Edition Beetle online at vw.com. They are going to come in 2 new colors: Vapor Blue and Reflex Yellow.

I am going to start to make a concerted effort to take this "weblog" (I hate that word) type thing a little more seriously. Basically what that means is I am going to put some more time into it, focus my viewpoints, offer more firsthand ideas, write in a different manner, and do a bunch more spell checking/proof reading.

Of course this isn't going to be an overnight change and I ain't making any promises. Hell, I may not even update again until next Monday.

I am not my father's Oldsmobile, but I may be my daughter's Cabrio?

A great article about how us DotCommers (Gen'Xers) are gonna soon be squeezed out by Baby Boomers with more experience and cheap, more talented Gen'Yers.

Most of it is based upon the ideas put forth by George Colony of Forrester, here

This is an interesting idea and the article makes several good points. Good reading, I am, in fact, looking for more on this right now.
